Merits Of Learning The Qur'an
The Holy Qur’an is the final revelation of Allah (Subhaanahu wa ta’aala) to all mankinds. It was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Salla llaahu ’alayhi wasallam) through Angel Jubril(’alay salaatu wasalaam) at the night of decree (Laylat al-Qadr). Allah (SWT) says in the Qur’an: And this [Qur’an] is a Book we have revealed [which is] blessed, so follow it and fear Allah that you may receive mercy. [Qur’an 6:155]
The Qur’an contains all kinds of principles of creed, deeds, and ethics that will make mankind attain real bliss. It is a great literary miracle in terms of its words and meaning. The Prophet Muhammad (Salla llaahu alayhi wasallam) stated the following regarding this: “Every Prophet was given miracles because of which people believed, but what I have been given, is Divine Inspiration which Allah has revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will outnumber the followers of the other Prophets on the Day of Resurrection.”
Prophet Muhammad (Salla llaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “Read the Holy Qur’an and it will come on Judgment Day as an intercessor; when you are in need of an intercessor he will intercede for you” This means that each verse, each letter you read in the Qur’an will intercede for you on Judgment Day. What is better than that?
Uthman (RadhiyAllahu anhu) narrated, the Prophet Muhammad (Salla llaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it to others.”
‘Aa’ishah (RadhiyAllahu anhaa) narrated, that the Prophet (Salla llaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.”
“Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As (RadhiyAllahu anhumaa) reported, The Prophet said: “The one who was devoted to the Qur’an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.”
